  3.    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

  5.    I must offer my thanks to the many new friends I've made through all my     
  6.    previous adventures, for their  encouragement, suggestions, support and     
  7.    in particular their appreciation  -  it's  nice to know that people are     
  8.    actually getting pleasure from playing them!                                
  9.                                                                                
  10.    In particular, I must mention Rob Watts, who was the first to point out     
  11.    to me ('way back in 1982) that writing adventures is even more fun than     
  12.    playing them. Jean Thorne also deserves  more than a passing nod, as it     
  13.    was  she who, after some initial discouragement with `Excalibur' & `The     
  14.    Black Tower', persuaded me to write `The Golden Fleece'.                    
  15.                                                                                
  16.    The rave review by The Grue was very much appreciated, as was the space     
  17.    devoted to same by Mandy Rodriguez in Adventure Probe.

  19.    The list of acknowledgements would not be complete without reference to     
  20.    a certain company called Infocom. Although my first two adventures were     
  21.    written before I had  played  any of  their games, I must admit to them     
  22.    having had more than a slight influence on me thereafter.
